Department of Chemistry

Our laboratory is engaged in a bit of synthetic organic chemistry as well as a good deal of synthetic inorganic chemistry. We seek to make contributions to three areas:

 

1) Study the coordination chemistry of first row metals in tetrapodal pentadentate frameworks composed of NHC donors in relation to small molecule activation (O2, N2, CO2)

 

2) Study the coordination chemistry of Mesoionic N-heterocyclic carbene pincer ligands towards first row transition metals.

3) Develop dual-pocket ligands to provide bimetallic complexes for use in the activation of small molecules (O2, N2, CO2).
